Why is that watch called...

Why is that watch called...

Why is that watch called ... Rolex Hulk.

Its not the first or the only green Rolex - just to confuse you- but the Hulk - reference 116610LV- marks the first time both the bezel and dial are in the company’s brand colour of green.

The green dial Rolex Submariner with a matching Green ceramic bezel has earned the nickname the “Hulk” due to its all-green colour profile and its thicker case design. So its green and a bit of a chunk so of course it gets the nickname of the Marvel comics green superhero.

The first green watch was only partly green. Nicknamed the Kermit.
The 2003 release of Rolex Submariner 16610LV celebrated 50 years of the Rolex Submariner watch. It was the same as the black-bezel Rolex Submariner -  the 1661- that had been around for years, and was a classic, but for its green bezel, hence the name ‘Kermit'.
It was discontinued in 2010 however and the green green Hulk appeared. The Hulks ceramic bezel was more green, more scratch resistant, and was an instant hit.

It is noticeable and distinct, yet not so much its hard to wear. The green is quite reflective, looking dark green then light green in the light.

Recently sadly discontinued and replaced with the green bezel and black dial  of the ‘Starbucks’ - 126610LV. The bezel of the Rolex Starbucks is made of ceramic (as is the bezel of the Hulk), while the older Kermit has an aluminium bezel. The Starbucks is classy, its very Rolex and its a little slimmer and more refined than the Hulk.

And yet - the Hulk is still the green Rolex collectors want most.
