Arguably best known for their aviation watches, Breitling are once again revisiting underwater territory with their Superocean Steelfish timepiece.
The Swiss watch company are renowned for creating precision-made chronometers favoured by aviators and divers alike, with the Superocean Steelfish Breitling setting out to help divers discover what lies beneath the ocean depths. The timepiece is part of a special series combining a technical and sporty look with the legendary performance of Superocean; creating an authentic instrument that is aesthetically pleasing and extremely practical.
Distinguished Deep-Sea Design
The aptly named Superocean Steelfish timepiece is distinguished by the broad ratcheted bezel that features black rubber-encrusted markings and numerals in a highly professional style. The twin day-by-date windows provide easy readability, and the numerals are covered in luminescent epoxy that is combined with a glare-proof thick sapphire crystal coating; ensuring optimal readability at all levels of visibility. These numerals are larger than usual and the hands are slightly thicker, making timekeeping easier when immersed at any depth.
In making the Superocean Steelfish, Breitling has made every effort to create a distinguished timepiece that is characteristic of the brand's luxury style. As with all of Breitling’s diver’s watches, this watch is not simply for those who enjoy a gentle swim — it is for those who plan to take the plunge down to the bottom of the ocean and require a practical watch that can take them from the shore to the boardroom with ease.
Powered by Breitling Precision
Breitling’s Superocean Steelfish timepiece is equipped with a self-winding chronograph that has been officially certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). This officially certified timepiece ensures that optimal precision is preserved and it meets the same standards of testing that all Breitling movements are subject to in order to ensure reliability and accuracy at all times.
The watch is water-resistant to 1,650 feet or 500m. Its resistance is enhanced by a crown that features a screw-lock with protective reinforcement, and by push pieces that cannot submit to activation unless they have been unlocked. The watch is extremely sturdy and the 44mm stainless steel case has a satin-brushed finish on the sides and top, ensuring that the piece is both durable and extremely attractive.
A Choice of Designs
This timepiece is available in two models — a high-contrast black and white dial and a more classic blue and silver combination. There are two different additions of the watch, with the bracelet version retailing for around £3732 and the version that includes the rubber strap add-on retailing for between £3433 and £3613.
The Superocean Steelfish timepiece is a testament to Breitling’s commitment to creating quality watches with a purpose. This watch is a superb addition to the series and is set to make a splash.
