Baselworld Preview: The Breitling for Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon

Set to make its much-anticipated debut at Baselworld 2014, Brietling has recently released detailed specifications, as well as some tantalising images of its brand new, timelessly stylish and exclusive offering - The 6.75 Midnight Carbon Chronograph. A deep-black watch that just exudes a dark classical elegance. Designed as Breiting watch buyers own special tribute to Bentley’s biggest engine, the world-famous 6.75 litre which is found under the bonnet of the elite Mulsanne limousine, the new Brietling Bentley 6.75 chronograph cuts an audacious dash with a completely black-clad limited edition series. The Breitling for Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon Achieved by using a patented carbon-based, ultra resistant coating, Breitling has enhanced the look of the traditional taut lined satin-brushed case and has included a knurled bezel which was itself inspired by the shape of the famous Bentley radiator grille. Enhanced still further by an ingenious vertical open worked motif, which offers a tantalising glimpse of the encased movement of this fine watch. Reversed, the case back also has a surprise of its own. With the motif on the back being a reminder of the distinctive five spoke design of the Bentley wheel rims, this appears in midnight black against the stark metallic background.

But this watch isn’t just about show

Within is an intricate self-winding chronograph movement with the chronometer itself certified by the Swiss Official Chronometre Testing Institute (COSC). The mechanism is easily distinguished by its standout 'Large aperture calendar' which serves to make the date display extremely easy to read by employing two distinct methods of indication - one for the multiples of 10 and another for the units. A truly unique timepiece, the Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon will be issued in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces and is sold with a black rubber strap, complete with a centrally raised motif, which echoes the styling of the bezel. This watch will in all likelihood not be featuring in the Breitling used watches market for some time to come.
