At the Movies - Timepieces that made their appliance on the big screen

IN honour of the recent Oscars, we've gathered up a few of our favourite 'Big Screen Watches', watches that showed up and were certainly noticed  in the movies. The reverso Grande Taille, by Jaeger LeCoultre, first appeared on Batman’s wrist when played by Val Kilmer, and then again on Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Trilogy. For teh Dark Knight Rises the watch maker created a very special edition, complete with Batman symbol, of the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin. Just like Batman himself all Jaeger LeCoulter timepieces have two very different sides, with the steel back being able to be flipped to protect the face of the watch.
Sharp dressed Hitmen in all Movies need a timepiece that matches their look. Enter the rather slick looking IWC Vintage Ingenieur Automatic IW3233, worn on Vincent’s wrist in the movie Collateral. Not just stealing the limelight in eleven James Bond Movies with their Rolex Submariner, Rolex have had the Deepsea Sea-Dweller worn by Ben Affleck in the movie, Argo. Leonardo DiCarpio is clearly seen wearing a Breathing Chrono  Avenger in the movie Blood Diamond. With its black dial, and titanium case, it has a brown leather strap in the film. Way back in 1998, for the Oscar winning Rain Man, Tom cruise wore a yellow gold Daydate Rolex. Its takes a good chunk of the screen time, including featuring in a scene where he tries to pawn it. Looking every bit the part, the triangular Hamilton Venura XXL was worn by both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in the Men in Black movies. Actually it was introduced to the market back in 1957, not as futuristic as you think! Of course famous for being in the James Bond movies, the Omega watch is no stranger to our big screen. Its not stranger to our big skies either, accompanying the real life space missions from 1962, -and the movie of Apollo 13.
