Swiss made - This term generally refers to all export goods manufactured in Switzerland. For watches, "Swiss made" is more than just a statement of where it was made - it is a quality assurance that guarantees that the calibre of the respective watch was assembled in Switzerland. Furthermore, at least half of the parts used must have been produced in Switzerland to receive this label.
Sapphire crystal - Since the 80s, this has been the standard watch crystal used in the high end market. Sapphire crystal is unbreakable, and scratch-resistant whilst still being sure of excellent readability.
Skeleton watch - This is when parts and material inside the watch are removed to expose the movement and make the fine mechanics of the watch wonderfully visible.
Smurf - This is the nickname of the Rolex Submariner Ref. 116619LB, which is made of white gold and features a blue dial and blue bezel.

Sweeping second - The term "sweeping second" is used to describe seconds hands that move continuously and do not jump from second to second.
Seamaster - Omega Seamaster is the longest running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948.

Sea-dweller - {below} The Rolex Sea-Dweller is an ultra-resistant divers' watch type, engineered by Rolex for deep-sea exploration. It supports a depth of 4,000 feet under water. The larger case of the Sea-Dweller also contains a fliplock extension link on its bracelet. The Sea-Dweller has its lettering in Red on the dial.

Submariner - The Rolex Submariner is very similar to the Sea Dweller. The Sub is designed specifically for recreational divers. It supports a depth of 1,000 feet. The sea dweller can go deeper under water and has a new type of flip clasp. as opposed to white on the Submariner dial. The submariner has its name in white on the dial.
